Great Plains Wind Energy HCP

August 14, 2012 -- WEWAG has been awarded a second Section 6 grant from the Department of the Interior in order to help support the inclusion of the interior least tern and piping plover in the HCP, in addition to the two species originally included (whooping crane and lesser prairie-chicken). This grant will help ensure the adequate conservation of these species through measures to minimize and offset impacts from wind energy development. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service completed the first phase of their National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) review process, the public scoping, including scoping meetings and a public comment period.
